B2B Customer Service Specialist (Munich or Berlin based)

Lodging Content Associates onboard new hotel partners in Germany, Austria & Switzerland, adding room types and settings, property amenities, photos, star ratings, and hotel data, all within a deadline. Successful candidates will complete work to program standards, while working and communicating with sales teams (Market Managers), hoteliers, their Channel Managers, and colleagues from content, media, star ratings, data management, and localization teams. Candidates will need to successfully pass a comprehensive content test inclusive of writing test samples. Fluency in German & English is required. Knowledge of French/Italian will be an advantage. This is a full-time and onsite position in the Berlin or Munich offices of Expedia, Inc. You key responsibilities will include:

  • Contacting hotel partners to capture and confirm data about their hotel content, photos, room types, rate plans, rates, inventory, booking policies, property amenities, onsite services, and contact information
  • Editing existing hotel information in English and German, including amenities, and photos; resolve change requests; assign star ratings, themes, and structure type 
  • Working efficiently towards daily/weekly/monthly targets; complete all work to quality standards; focus on continuous improvement 
  • Training, by phone, new hotel partners on tools and processes that will optimize their products on our sites 
  • Provide project support for other content-related tasks, as assigned

Work Experience and Education Guidelines:

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Business, Hospitality/Hotel Management, English/Communications preferred
  • Hotel/Travel industry experience preferred
  • 2 years of content experience at an e-commerce site is a plus

Core Competencies:
Written & Spoken communications

  • Fluency in written and spoken German & English. Additional European languages especially French/Italian would be a plus.
  • Thorough understanding of the hotel industry and differing amenities that appear in different types of hotel product
  • Excellent writing, spelling, and grammar skills in German & English, with strong attention to detail, speed, and accuracy.
  • Excellent telephone manner
  • Open communication with colleagues to share best practices and flexibility to adhere to process improvements

  • Proven ability to resolve a high volume of work in a deadline-driven environment or work queue
  • Ability to complete work to program standards by making independent decisions by applying definitions & criteria
  • Excellent ability to work and learn independently, as well as collaborate with larger teams
  • Knowledge of Internet and online search; ability to learn new software, tools, and technical processes quickly
  • Excellent organizational, time-management, and quality-control abilities

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook required; experience with Access a plus
  • Experience working with SharePoint, Salesforce, and content management tools a plus
