Who you are:

We are looking for a technically savvy, results-oriented Software Development Engineer to work with a group of like-minded software professionals, designers, architects and product experts to help build new and innovative features for our travel platform. As a Software Development Engineer on the Platform team, you will be responsible for the design and delivery of initiatives that improve/expand the system architecture, drive efficiency, automation and build technically sound solutions to complex problems. This individual will play an active role in all aspects of Agile software development.

Core Responsibilities:

  • You drive and contribute to the technology road-map.
  • You provide expertise in the technical design efforts of various initiatives, ensuring the system design meets scalability and performance requirements.
  • You lead and participate in the design and implementation (e.g., coding, testing, debugging) efforts.
  • You develop tools to make the Engineers more effective.
  • You stay up to date on emerging technologies and champion their adoption where necessary.
  • You present technical issues and their business impact to management.
  • You work with cross-functional teams to research and resolve production issues.
  • You communicate complex technical solutions to a variety of stakeholders.

Skills and Experience Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field is required. Master's degree is preferred.
  • At least 1 year work experience in the software engineering field.
  • Solid experience with objective-oriented design and development using Java.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas.
  • You take a results-oriented and proactive approach.
  • Experience with the following technologies: Java, Spring Framework, REST APIs, Kafka, Chef, Dropwizard, Spring Boot, NoSQL, AWS and Docker.
  • Experience with CI/CD frameworks.
  • Recent experience building & shipping highly scalable enterprise systems a big plus.
  • Experience at other fast-paced Internet companies, especially Travel companies, is a plus as well.
