Data Product Analyst

Introduction

Every single day millions of customers come to Hotels.com through websites like Google, Bing, Trip Advisor, and Kayak to name a few. The Hotels.com Acquisition Marketing Team needs to understand their performance at various levels from these partners. To make correct decisions they need accurate data. This is where you come in. Your job is to creatively take detailed information from various sources and figure out how to bring it together to build usable data structures at scale. As a Data Product Analyst, you are the authority on all partner marketing data. You will work directly with the teams that handle Hotels.com Search Engine Marketing, Meta, and Affiliate partners.

What you’ll do

  • design, build, and maintain prototype data structures that run our performance reporting and key decision-making
  • work with various people to devise, implement, and test new data sources
  • help understand performance and results, and think of new ways to visualize our data
  • come up with ideas for new sources of insight and help integrate new datasets
  • work with product managers and data engineers to build out prototype solutions in the cloud

What makes this role different?

  • This isn’t about taking pre-packaged tightly written requirements with a set of acceptance criteria and delivering it to spec.
  • This role is about co-creating solutions – how should we think about this problem?
  • What does the implementation look like? How will we know when it is correct? Know that once your solution is delivered.
  • This is a data solutions role not a statistical modeling role
  • You will report to Hotels.com's Senior Manager of Technical Data Product and work closely with the Acquisition Marketing Teams

Required:

  • Degree with strong data and or analytical focus (Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, etc.)
  • Advanced in SQL is a requirement
  • You can talk about code that you designed and built yourself, and be able to code in a team too
  • Phenomenal problem solving, and analytical skills combined with the ability to explain concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to prioritize, communicate and deliver in the face of complex projects and time-sensitive work you're doing

Desirable:

  • Familiar with data platforms like Hadoop, AWS S3, Teradata, and SQL Server
  • Experience with ETL
  • Familiar with python
  • Experience with online technologies and ecommerce
