Expedia’s eCommerce Platform (eCP) team has an opening for a Software Development Engineer as part of our Financial Systems and Core Transactional Services (FCTS) team. The online travel market is a $2 trillion industry that never stands still. This 400-person organization operating between Expedia’s Global Brands, Supply Offerings, and Finance Teams, is the transactional heartbeat of Expedia Group. FCTS is composed of two key platform components – Financial Systems, primarily based on the Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS); and the Core Transaction Platform that comprises Order and Fulfillment Orchestration, Trip Management, and Incentive Services. Through our technology and operations infrastructure, we handle billions of dollars of bookings, collections, and payments every month. This role will primarily focus on the Core Transaction Platform, one of the platforms operated by FCTS. 

What you'll do:

  • Analyze the needs of the business to develop strategies designed to optimize system value and leverage development and support capabilities.
  • Effectively communicate team goals and priorities and ensure alignment with key stakeholders.
  • Ensure that solutions deployed have technical integrity, stability, and are scalable to a growing operation.
  • Drive the development, incubation, and execution of opportunities identified and approved for development, including managing multiple cross-functional parties and vendors.
  • Successful program delivery utilizing teams across multiple locations.
  • Effectively handle multiple, simultaneous projects, problems, or tasks with critical deadlines and produce quality results.
  • Manage and prioritize the development/modification of platform capabilities.
  • Manage resource utilization based on business priorities and ensure all project deliverables are achievable according to task estimates.
  • Allocate available resources to meet operating objectives. Interact with direct reports, customers and peers to share information and improve cross-departmental processes.

Who you are:

  • You have 3+ years of direct people management of technical teams with a background in managing high performance teams and use good judgment to make decisions in line with strategy, and understands how projects fit into overall development strategy and process
  • You are a strong strategic thinker/self starter with the ability to formulate business strategy and move effortlessly from strategy to development of operational details
  • You are able to successfully persuade and influence peers and partners; sell ideas and get results
  • You are flexible, organized, and able to handle competing priorities
  • Develop and evolve effective working relationships with key partners and peers
  • Inspire and motivate team, and provide constructive feedback and career development plans
