Software Dev Engineer II

If so, then this might be the right opportunity for you. The Lodging Data Tech Analytics Team in Chicago is looking to hire a strong full-stack software engineer who can hit ground running on such an initiative.

What you will do:

  • Work with product & UX to infer business requirements. Work on building a comprehensive list of happy, edge & failure cases. Get clarity on system behavior for all such cases. Then assess best possible design and present the same in a team setting. Gauge feedback from design discussions and help determine an execution plan allowing delivery in an agile fashion to end users.
  • Clearly communicate and work closely with geographically distributed multi-functional teams.
  • Write clean code along with focus on automation to test business scenarios. Document your work after each release.
  • Perform code reviews and help test components/functionality built by others team members.
  • Focus on different aspects of Operation Excellence Eg. Improving page performance, application resiliency, optimizing for AWS costs, setting up alerting/monitoring.
  • Support urgent live-site operations as needed. Subsequently perform data/system analysis as needed.
  • Work on limiting/eliminating tech debt.

Who you are:

  • 5+ years of experience in object-oriented programming concepts, data structure, algorithms.
  • Expertise writing/testing & optimizing multi-threaded code.
  • Expertise writing REST APIs.
  • Previous experience with server side programming languages like Java, Scala or NodeJs and frameworks like Spring MVC/Spring Boot.
  • Experience with Javascript and CSS. Knowledge of React & Redux frameworks is a plus.
  • Experience with AWS Cloud Technologies.
  • Experience working with SQL & NoSQL databases,
  • Experience with GIT(version control).
  • Bachelors or Master’s degree in computer science, information technology.
  • Ability to perform and influence code reviews as well as technical design meetings.
  • Successfully deliver high quality, distributed services with large transaction volumes on a 24x7 operational cycle.
  • Familiarity with high volume, fault tolerant, transactional systems, micro-service design, or data processing pipelines (using Spark, Hive, Docker, Kubernetes).
  • The ability to apply critical thinking to solve problems at a team and group level.
  • Experience with continuous delivery, automated deployments, and related engineering practices.
