About the role:

Hotwire is seeking a UX Researcher to join our Product Labs team. This team plays a vital role in shaping how we build our product now and inform what our product should be in the future. Researchers work closely with product managers, designers, and analysts to develop deep insights about our users' behaviors and attitudes, and share results and actionable recommendations across the company.

You conduct generative research to explore new opportunities, test concepts as they are being developed, and lead evaluative research of our current product. Your recommendations balance business goals and user needs, and you will act as a strategic partner alongside stakeholders to drive customer-centric solutions after the research is complete.

You are an excellent communicator and a flexible teammate who can thrive in our dynamic work environment. You drive research projects autonomously and bring clarity to ambiguity. You are comfortable working closely with passionate members from other teams who care deeply about creating experiences that help people travel more.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • You scope out and execute user research projects (often with overlapping timelines), and you provide insights that will drive key product decisions—from the strategic discovery about user needs to tactical evaluations of design decisions.
  • You have a strong understanding of the strengths and shortcomings of various qualitative and you apply quantitative research methods, including when and how to use them during product phases.
  • You build a deep understanding of the customer's voice and their values, needs, behaviors, and goals, and help evangelize that voice within the company.
  • You serve as a subject matter authority on our customers’ for assigned channels and domains.
  • You partner with other customer data teams (e.g. consumer operations, analytics, etc.) to uncover larger user trends and determine strategies for further investigation and/or synthesis.
  • You collaborate closely with multiple teams within Hotwire to identify and prioritize research topics in a fast-paced environment.
  • You share research findings with product teams and the company at-large by creating and distributing compelling reports/artifacts and presentations.


  • Bachelor or Masters in Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction, Experimental Psychology, Cognitive Science OR comparable UX research experience
  • 4+ years of experience within Product organizations, utilizing a variety of research methods, including user interviews (remote and in-person), usability/user testing, and surveys
  • Willingness to take initiative, run with projects, and speak up when support and guidance is needed
  • Ability to communicate and coordinate cross-functionally in order to engage stakeholders from across the organization
  • Proven experience working with key company stakeholders, with the ability to educate teams about user research and design thinking methodology
  • Excellent knowledge of research principles and experiment design & facilitation
  • Strong verbal, written, and visual communication skills


  • Strong experience driving results with mobile platforms/mWeb
  • Working knowledge of quantitative methods, behavioral analysis, and statistical concepts
  • Demonstrated experience with design thinking methods and brainstorm facilitation
