Software Development Engineer - Expedia API team

The Expedia API team is looking for a passionate and motivated junior Software Development Engineer to help build Expedia’s next generation API.

This team is contributing to Expedia’s mission - to revolutionize travel through the power of technology - by designing, developing, deploying and maintaining state-of-the-art GraphQL-based APIs.

In this role, you will use your critical thinking and technical skills to continuously improve Expedia’s API. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with many teams across Expedia and learn about hundreds of applications whose data are needed to power Expedia’s native apps and Progressive Web Apps.

What you’ll do:

  • Participate in the design and implementation of scalable and reliable API infrastructure
  • Work closely with other engineering teams to accelerate the development of their APIs
  • Handle constantly evolving priorities
  • Communicate complex technical solutions to a variety of stakeholders
  • Stay up to date on emerging technologies and champion their adoption where necessary

Who you are:

  • Early in your software development career
  • Proficiency in software engineering concepts
  • Experience with server-side JavaScript (preferably Node.js)
  • Enjoy troubleshooting
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to recognize when to ask for help and knowledge of how to do so
  • Experience working with AWS products (e.g. EC2, ECS, Kinesis) is a plus
