The Customer, Markets & Capital (CMC) team is looking for an analytical, entrepreneurial, and creative Senior Director who is responsible for leading the Lines of Business (LOB).  The CMC Global Lodging lead has responsibility for understanding the end to end lodging business above all others.  You will play a leading role in weekly, monthly, and quarterly business reviews and outline where Expedia is winning (gaining market share) in transport, where we are losing, why, and what actions we’re taking to address. This includes creating and providing deep insights on customer & business trends across competitive products, pricing and service.  Translating market share trends into actions in each market requires in-depth knowledge to maximize profitability, market potential and customer growth, leveraging data/analytics/automation etc.  The depth of global knowledge and ability to balance customer and Expedia needs creates an invaluable resource for counterparts across the Expedia Group.  We’re seeking a technically comfortable leader who will push to automate every business process which can be automated.

You will have a unique blend of operational and strategic responsibilities, and an opportunity to play a crucial role in the continued evolution of Expedia’s rapidly growing global business. As a member of the global CMC leadership team, you will drive core business initiatives to achieve our strategic plan. You will lead a global team working cross-functionally to consult and support BEXG’s business performance and will work closely with various partners across markets and lines of business of the global Expedia Group.

What you’ll do:

  • Be the expert on global lodging end to end (E2E)
    • Understand business E2E, including key customer experience opportunities to improve
    • Tell global story and align partners across the organization on business trends and drivers
    • Define what are key daily/weekly/monthly KPIs we need to track provide organizational clarity (with markets teams/others) on action trees on material variances (with markets teams, other stakeholders)
    • Provide proactive recommendations to the organization based on the trends on focus areas, investments or savings
  • Partner with the Director, Automation to create, maintain and constantly improve an alarming system for issues impacting the lodging customers and/or business profitability
    • Create alarms, with supporting workflows, ensuring business impacting events for lodging are quickly identified and resolved.
    • Reduce transaction and revenue “leakage”
  • Partnership w/Global Product (Wayfinders/Hub), Global Marketing, Pricing, Supply, etc.
    • Recommend CMC product priorities for Wayfinders/Hub, and maintain process to gather feedback from CMC Market Teams to feed these priorities
    • Provide a globally consistent framework to provide regional/POSa/hyper local insights. Gather insights and observations from Market Team and scale globally as appropriate
    • Understand pricing stack with input from Market Teams on price competitiveness and responsible for understanding and prioritizing dev work to improve it
    • Be the lodging subject matter expert (SME) who will bring investment recommendations forward for consideration in partnership with the capital team
  • Partner on forward looking initiatives to grow lodging based on BEX OKRs
    • Active participant in the lodging leadership team
    • Create frameworks that can rollout globally to partner teams (e.g. price competitiveness framework)
    • Partner with non-lodging specific areas as assigned by CMC LT (e.g. homepage, mobile app team, etc.)
  • People Leader
    • Provide impactful leadership, line management and effectively manage and mentor a global team of eCommerce professionals
    • Maximize team performance and foster an inclusive culture of innovation, productivity, responsiveness and quality

  • Ability to navigate the complexities of multiple internal and external partner experience leading programs collaboratively, with strong program leadership skills to coordinate, organize and prioritize critical workstreams across multiple countries and time zones

  • Demonstrable agility to work collaboratively across a global matrixed organization and work well in a dynamic environment to meet deadlines within short time constraints whilst maintaining the utmost attention to detail
