Senior Corporate Counsel

Expedia Group is seeking a smart and pragmatic lawyer with experience of advising on German ecommerce, advertising, and consumer law and regulatory issues. You will work on a broad range of matters looking after the HomeAway/Vrbo and Expedia brands in Germany and Austria as the key German-speaking legal contact working closely with business and other partner teams.

You will join the Expedia Group legal team based in London and report to a Senior Director in a dynamic, challenging and fun environment where you can be creative, collaborative and do your best work as part of our highly respected legal team.

What you’ll do:

  • Advising on German and Austrian consumer and ecommerce legal requirements applying to Expedia and HomeAway/Vrbo brands and websites and related products (e.g., accommodation services, air, car)
  • Collaborating with key business contacts and internal partners such as privacy, security, tax, and treasury and implementing strategy for the HomeAway/Vrbo and Expedia brands;
  • Monitoring local and European regulations that impact the HomeAway/Vrbo and Expedia brands in Germany and Austria and advising and supporting the Government Relations team;
  • Managing other legal tasks as they arise, which may include support on strategic transactions, regulatory investigations, and litigation support.

Who you’ll be:

  • A German qualified lawyer with experience either in-house or in a reputable law-firm advising in consumer and e-commerce areas.
  • Able to learn and integrate into complicated and dynamic businesses, advising on a combination of legal and business issues and have strong communication and legal skills to facilitate becoming a trusted partner of the business team.
  • Someone who has common sense with a can-do attitude, able to assess key risks while maintaining strong attention to detail and technical skills.
  • Fluent in English and German. Additional language skills a plus.
  • Ability to handle a wide range of matters with minimal supervision
