Position Overview:

The Site Reliability Team within Expedia Partner Solutions focuses on protecting and progressing the software and systems behind EPS public services with an ever-watchful eye on their availability, latency, performance and capacity.

The SRT’s main areas of focus are around metrics, monitoring, resilience and the site front door. As a member of SRT, you will participate in engineering work in an agile environment, you will join a team of engineers in a vital support rotation, and you will collaborate with other delivery teams to promote resilience and reliability across the organization.

This role demands a broad skill set as it combines software engineering and system administration. You will need to stay ahead of current technologies and chip in and participate in the analysis and recommendation of new strategies and/or technologies. Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain tooling that supports our applications in both cloud environments and traditional datacenter installations.
  • Maintain security and compliance with necessary regulations such as PCI.
  • Support and engage with internal teams to craft requirements and implement solutions to reliability concerns.
  • Work with other teams to quickly handle and resolve complex issues and produce troubleshooting guides.
  • You will be expected to promote good development practices, participate in peer code reviews, and provide estimates on work.
  • This position will include participation in an on-call rotation.

Experience and Qualification:

  • 2 Years of experience in a combination of the following:
  • Support of a Linux enterprise environment.
  • Virtualization and/or Cloud Computing experience.
  • Experience working with a scripting language such as bash or python.
  • Networking OSI model (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, Routing) -- Knowledge of web technologies and protocols to help resolve live site issues.
  • An understanding of security fundamentals as they pertain to ecommerce application environments.
  • Exposure to Agile Methodologies preferred.
  • Knowledge of load balancing technologies, such Citrix Netscalers, HAProxy, or ALBs preferred.
  • Knowledge of Java development, GC, and JMX metrics preferred.
