Commercial Finance Manager

We are looking for a highly motivated and analytical Commercial Finance Manager to join Expedia Partner Solutions (EPS) team, the business-to-business (B2B) arm of Expedia Group (EG). EPS is a high-profile division within EG and has been growing aggressively with more ambitious goals ahead. We create tools and technology to help millions of travellers make their next trip happen. Our technology and supply powers the travel businesses of some of world’s leading online and offline travel agencies, financial institutions, loyalty organisations and airlines. We are the only B2B arm to operate across all travel products including air, hotel and car.

What you'll do

In this role you will be the commercial finance lead for a newly signed key partnership significant in size, with complex and unique structure, attracting high exposure across EPS and wider EG leadership teams. You will be leveraging strong stakeholder relationships, using data and business judgement to provide robust decision support and guidance to the commercial and wider program team for various partnership initiatives, performance objectives and key milestones. More specifically, you will:

  • Support the account management team based in London and Chicago with setting short, medium and long-term strategy and forecast for the partnership, identify and communicate risks and opportunities; build and maintain financial models to support this process
  • Analyse and assess business performance (macro and micro level) and provide account management team with actionable insights and recommendations for use in setting and realising profit objectives
  • Analyse performance against contractual commitments, proactively highlight risks and suggest mitigation strategies
  • Support other finance teams with quarterly forecast and annual budget, by providing partnership specific inputs around volumes and margins
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis to evaluate the impact of implementation restrictions and changes and provide decision support to commercial and product teams accordingly
  • Provide input into weekly, monthly and quarterly partnership updates and create presentation slides, as necessary
  • Be the finance focal on weekly governance meetings and provide finance input into decision making
  • Be the finance lead for partnership’s phase two negotiations and support business development team with evaluating similar new partnership opportunities; create financial models to assess the opportunity size, determine most suitable commercial structure, carry out sensitivity analysis to advise on risk and opportunity, review contracts

Who you are

  • Proven ability to lead/act as finance business partner with demonstrable experience and success in supporting commercial negotiations
  • Proven ability to analyse data effectively, interpret and present data in a compelling format to finance and non-finance audiences and drive actions
  • Proven ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously, prioritise effectively and meet deadlines
  • Ability to build effective relationships with various stakeholders, e.g. sales, finance, marketing, product, operations and external partners
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel with experience of manipulating large datasets and financial modelling
  • Hyperion Planning/Essbase and SQL experience desired, but not essential.
  • Qualified Accountant with considerable PQE experience
  • Highly analytical with strong numerical skills
  • Experienced and enthusiastic working in dynamic, entrepreneurial environments
  • Someone who thrives in large, global, fast moving organisations
  • Excellent communicator and influencer
  • Experience with analysis, forecasting, budgeting and management reporting including proven success in streamlining processes
  • Proven experience working with cross functional teams across multiple time zones
  • Familiar with B2B business models, ideally within tech/travel sector
  • A proactive problem solver
