About the position:

We are looking for a software engineer to join the Data Platform team, to design, develop, setup, and the next generation of data streaming pipeline and data-lake solutions.

You will help make sense of petabytes of Data while building, supporting, and delivering state-of-the-art stream, and batch data flow. The data teams exist at the core of Business, Analytics, and Data Science operations, facilitating decision-making by providing the right data, at the right time, to the right people or system.

  • Contribute to Open-Source, and evangelize high standard methodologies.
  • Get the opportunity to work and evolve a cloud-based data lake backed by the full suite technologies and including Kafka, Spark, Airflow, Hive, Kinesis, EMR, and Docker.

Responsibilities

  • You will develop various facets of data capture, data processing, storage, and distribution.
  • You will write clean, maintainable and well-tested code, through the support of pair programming and code reviews.
  • You will propose new ways of doing things and contribute to the system architecture.
  • You will identify performance and data challenges, suggesting code and architecture improvements.
  • You will deploy and maintain systems and services in production environments.
  • You will actively monitor the health of applications owned and address issues.
  • You communicate and document solutions and design decisions.
  • You understand and know how to apply AWS standard methodologies and products (compute, storage, databases).
  • You will take architectural ownership for various critical components and systems.
  • You will work with Product and other technology teams to flesh out and deliver on requirements in a prompt manner.

Experience and qualification

  • You have proven experience working with data at scale.
  • You have experience designing and architecting complex systems that scale well with large volumes of data.
  • You are experienced with at least one modern programming language (e.g., Scala, Python, or Java).
  • You have developed and worked with open source technologies like Kafka, Hadoop, Hive, Presto, and Spark (a bonus).
  • You are rigorous writing high-quality code, automated testing, applying the best engineering principles.
