The Director, Market Operations (MO) APAC sub-Region for Japan will be driving creativity, efficiency, and ownership into the content and lodging operations teams that are located in our Tokyo office, with vendor capabilities extension in a remote office within Japan. Success is celebrated by this person’s ability to champion change, drive compelling business cases and operationalize a strategy and vision for Japan. Inspired to lead change management and drive process improvement, whilst delivering the day to day metrics as part of it.
You will lead a number of functional areas/teams with total staff strength of approximately 70+, including about 3 – 5 direct reports. Also with dotted line oversight of a vendor team based in Japan. You will report directly to the Sr. Director, MO APAC. The overall APAC MO team is approximately 450 people, with both permanent and contingent staff, and aligned to 4 APAC sub-regions, with Japan being the newly crafted sub-region. There is a Multi-Lingual Contact Centre (MLCC) operations team supporting APAC (located in Kuala Lumpur) led by a Director that is part of the MO APAC leadership team and partnership peer to this role since MLCC is the hub with spoke operations in Tokyo as well.
This Director will be responsible for providing direct internal partner management to a team consisting of Sr. Directors, Directors, Area Managers, Call center managers and individual contributor MO staff. You will have to passionately care, coach and develop our people in the Tokyo site to attain objectives and to maintain employee engagement and retention.
Given the operational and strategic scope and scale of this position, this new leader is recognized both internally and externally as a high performing and personable operational leader. Incumbents play an influencing role within the industry in an effort to support Expedia lodging partners and increase Expedia’s visibility across the external marketplace.
