Vrbo is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst at their headquarters in Austin, Texas. This role is a part of Vrbo’s Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) team. FP&A owns the financial planning cycle, business monitoring and reporting, long term planning, and supporting key strategic initiatives for Vrbo. The team is responsible for consolidating Vrbo’s global financial results and effectively communicating the results to internal executive leadership as well as Expedia (our parent company). FP&A is also responsible for partnering with the other Vrbo finance teams in the identification and management of financial risks/opportunities, creation of financial targets, and the development of analysis to support financial tradeoffs across regions and lines of business for optimal return.
What you’ll do:
Serve as the Finance lead supporting business initiatives key to Vrbo’s long term strategy: urban market growth, distribution of Vrbo inventory within Expedia Group, traveler insurance products, government regulations & taxes, and media solutions
Support business leaders in understanding the financial outcomes of their initiatives. Provide guidance and direction to assist those leaders in making decisions that generate the desired return on investment.
Represent Finance in working groups dedicated to the above initiatives. Ensure Finance is appropriately represented and that potential financial impacts are considered. Engage other Finance team members as needed to provide subject matter expertise.
Create forecasting models supporting the sales, revenue, and operating expenses associated with these core initiatives
Maintain FP&A models and reporting to ensure accuracy and alignment to financial systems of record, chart of accounts, and business offerings
Assist in consolidating and synthesizing the global Vrbo financial story on a weekly and monthly basis, bringing a common lens to varying regions, surfacing global trends, and reporting on key metrics
Partner with other Vrbo finance teams to ensure the alignment of the FP&A forecast with current business trends and operational initiatives
Proactively identify opportunities / risks (financial and business). Work with other finance team members and business partners to capture / mitigate.
Own “the story” for your areas of responsibility. Produce executive level presentations to communicate financial results and identify areas of future opportunity and / or risk.
Develop forecasting models that use a data driven approach and limit user judgement
Improve the operational cadence and processes of the FP&A team. Identify and implement opportunities to increase efficiency (including systems / software).
Support ad hoc requests and key quarterly / annual objectives
Who you are:
Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment where priorities are constantly shuffling, and speed without sacrificing data quality is the norm
Strong critical thinking skills, with an innate sense of curiosity, that is complimented by an aptitude for learning quickly
Mature communication skills. The candidate must portray a strong presence and be very articulate both verbally and written.
Excellent at summarizing and then synthesizing large amounts of data (both quantitative and qualitative)
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail – accuracy is a must
Sound judgement with the ability to independently make decisions when required
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics
5 to 10 years of relevant work experience in finance-based roles
Experience working for a technology / ecommerce company
Experience developing models in Excel “from scratch” as well as improving the efficiency and accuracy in existing models
Experience building executive level presentations in PowerPoint
Ability to work effectively in team environments, particularly cross-functional teams
Solid time management and multi-tasking abilities
Foundational understanding of US GAAP Accounting
Experience with OLAP based financial planning software such as Hyperion, Prophix, Adaptive, Cognos or Clarity
