About the role

As a Global Insights Director at Vrbo, you will own and promote our international research vision, and manage a team of researchers. You will guide and prioritize research project work across a variety of qualitative and quantitative techniques, and ensure that team efforts result in actionable insights for our product, UX and marketing teams. 

Are you passionate about research and excited about your findings being used to drive changes that will impact millions of people? If yes, we are hiring a Global Insights Director, you will own and promote our international research vision, and manage a team of researchers. You will guide and prioritize research project work across a variety of qualitative and quantitative techniques, and ensure that team efforts result in actionable insights for our product, UX and marketing teams. 

What you will do:

  • Develop and execute international research strategy for our digital products, combining UX research and market research

  • Develop stakeholder relationships across a complex, matrixed, international organization

  • Manage staff of researchers in multiple countries; train and develop staff, and ensure their professional growth

  • Develop relationships with research vendors in additional countries to augment global research reach

  • Oversee project execution and quality to ensure that work across the team meets objectives and quality standards

  • Engage with other talented leaders and researchers across this team and others within Expedia Group, and build the discipline of research.

  • Leverage cutting-edge research tools and techniques like biometrics, eye-tracking, emotion recognition and others.
     

Who you are:

  • Advanced degree in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Human Factors, Cognitive Psychology, or other related field.

  • Strong experience in both UX research and Market research (preferred) but will consider experience in only one research discipline (UX or Market research)

  • Strong technical acumen and experienced in collaborating with Technology and Product

  • Experienced in common research techniques (lab usability, remote usability, biometrics, survey, interviews, focus groups, heuristic evaluations, card sorting, etc.). 

  • Passionate about keeping up to date with the latest tools, technologies and industry advancements.

  • Strong leadership experience with a passion for fostering a culture of mastery in the team. 

  • Expert in experimental design; able to plan and manage scientifically rigorous data collection and test protocols

  • Able to communicate clearly, persuasively and professionally to research leadership teams.

  • Expert in project management with experience in managing schedules and priorities for multiple simultaneous research projects across teams.

  • Strong stakeholder relationships experience and communications.
