Product Operations Manager

Hotels.com is looking for a Product Operations Manager to facilitate operations and planning activities for the Product team. This new role, reporting to the Senior Manager, Product Operations & Change, will have the goal of leading and improving how we run all operational aspects of product. The role will be varied and provide a unique perspective across the whole Hotels.com Product organization.

Why is this role needed?

To facilitate activities for the Product team with the goal of leading and improving how we run all operational aspects of Product at Hotels.com. Given the increasingly complex nature of Product priorities and their impact across multiple parts of the Expedia Inc community, this role is critical to ensuring smooth and efficient running of operation within the team.

Responsibilities will include...

Coordinating critical forums & activities

Planning integrated roadmaps for our hundreds of developers and dozens of product managers & designers is a big job. We run multiple planning forums to align internally, get buy in from the executive team, and coordinate with the wider Expedia Inc community. You would be responsible for coordinating inputs from the Product teams into this process and improving how we go about these critical processes.

It is critical that we regularly review our performance and assess the areas where we are investing our resources across Product & Tech teams. You would be responsible for managing operational activities leading up our quarterly reporting and leading the investment allocation reporting process.

Supporting team improvement

Our ambition is to build one of the best Product teams in the world. We’re doing well, but we know we can always be better. You would identify and lead initiatives that take us from good to amazing. This would involve identifying knowledge areas where our Product teams require the most support and identifying actions to bridge such skill gaps. You will be responsible for running regular onboarding sessions for new team joiners as well as identifying other avenues for skill development, such as external training events and meetups.

Driving team engagement and collaboration

Our approaches, processes and systems can only improve if we continue to share knowledge between teams and with stakeholders outside of Product. You will be responsible for managing forums whereby Product teams can share learnings with each other, as well as communicate key initiatives with non-Product teams at Hotels.com and with Product teams in the Expedia Inc community.

What you’ll do:

  • Support operations across multiple forums leading up to roadmap planning whereby Product teams align internally, get buy in from the executive team, and coordinate with the wider Expedia Inc community
  • Collaborate with Product teams to manage quarterly business review process by coordinating key timelines, reporting materials and scorecard collation
  • Lead process for accurately capturing and reporting investment allocation across Product & Tech teams
  • Identify ongoing knowledge areas where our Product teams require the most support and coordinate initiatives to bridge key skill gaps
  • Lead regular onboarding sessions for new team joiners and other avenues for skill development, such as external training events and meetups
  • Manage forums whereby Product teams can share learnings with each other and can communicate key initiatives with teams at Hotels.com
  • Work to promote Hotels.com Product positioning across the wider Expedia Inc community and London tech community through events and meetups

What we're looking for in you:

  • Exceptional organization: able to lead multiple projects and handle contending priorities and hit key deadlines
  • Able to thrive in a dynamic and complex environment and prioritize workload effectively
  • Analytical & numerate: adept at assembling & synthesizing data from variety of sources, and drawing conclusions
  • Excellent MSOffice skills, highly proficient in Excel & PowerPoint
  • Self-starter with bias towards action
  • Strong communication: confident communicating with wide variety of teams & stakeholders
  • Strong relationship-building: able to build a strong network across the various stakeholders and team across Hotels.com Product and Technology
  • Interest in Product Management and eCommerce
  • Background could include a combination of Product Management, Change management / continuous improvement, Project Management and Strategy Consulting
