Sr. Mgr., International Accounting

Brazil - Sao Paulo


Expedia is seeking an Accounting Sr. Manager based in Sao Paulo to lead the local accounting team which is responsible for accounting compliance in Brazil and supporting the Brazilian tax team. The position reports into the International Accounting team in Seattle, WA. To successfully lead the local accounting team this position will work with tax team and other operational teams supporting the business in Brazil to gain a deep, end‑to‑end understanding, of existing operations and compliance responsibilities. This position requires working closely with other members of the global accounting team as well as tax teams to communicate important information and ensure alignment between accounting and tax. What you'll do:

  • Lead the team handling accounting compliance
  • Lead preparation of the annual financial statements and coordinate the financial statement audit
  • Drive process improvements through the use of technology to streamline responsibilities
  • Partner with business leaders, tax, finance, treasury, legal teams, and external advisers on various business and operational matters
  • Work closely with the Sr. Manager, International Tax, in Brazil to understand the needs of the tax team and develop processes to support those needs

Who you are:

- 8 - 12 years of experience including public accounting experience. Chartered Accountant and / or Industry experience in the technology sector is preferred

  • Strong organizational, project management, interpersonal skills, and communication skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment and handle multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
  • Experience with various ERP systems, including Oracle and MXM
  • Experience with Brazil tax compliance and related tax filings and reporting
  • Ambitious, independent thinker and problem solver – able to think strategically, discover solutions and overcome obstacles within a matrixed organization
  • Proficient in Excel, including with pivot tables and modelling, and Word
  • Flexible to work across different time zones to connect with US based team
  • Fluent in Portuguese and English, both spoken and written
  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus
