Senior Director Market Management, Central & South America Region

The Senior Director, Market Management is responsible for leading a dispersed market management team of 107 people across Central America and South America.  Your key objective will be to provide strategic leadership to ensure that Expedia’s revenue targets exceed within the region.  You will bring a strong business and analytical acumen coupled with industry and marketplace knowledge, as well as a high level of partner account management expertise to the role.  You will be a key member of the LATAM Leadership team, co-creating and collaboratively executing on a compelling and effective vision and strategy, to deliver value to both lodging partners, end customers, and across internal Expedia Group brands.

You will be responsible for providing direct leadership to a team, consisting of Directors, Area Managers, Senior Market Managers, and individual contributor Market Management staff.  You will provide them with impactful and inspirational leadership, coaching and mentorship, and craft a compelling vision that steers, motivates and develops the diverse organization.  You will effectively attract, hire and engage impactful talent, and lead leaders to ensure the organization is structured in an optimal way to provide a consistent and inspirational service to its lodging partners.

You will be recognized both internally and externally as a sought-after thought leader and influencer in the industry.  You will play an influencing role within the industry in an effort to support Expedia Group’s lodging partners and increase Expedia’s visibility and prominence within the external marketplace.

What you’ll do:  

  • Solution oriented whilst driving accountability and ownership across the region
  • Continue to build upon a skilled, ambitious, passionate and results-focused Account Management organization, to continuously raise the bar and drive accountability throughout the organization
  • Optimize team engagement and performance and organizational efficiency by fostering a culture of innovation, productivity, responsiveness and quality
  • Utilize engagement surveys to identify opportunities and empower employees and management alike to deliver against these opportunities
  • Lead the organization by fostering an innovative, creative leadership team with the flexibility to adapt to challenging business demands
  • Champion a climate that supports and rewards both excellent group and individual performance and nurtures high-potential talent for retention and growth
  • Enable a culture that celebrates and encourages inclusive and diverse ideas, approaches and thinking

Deliver Regional Performance:

  • Directly responsible for account management and strategic oversight of the Central American and South American regions.
  • Monitor and lead local lodging marketplace success with the core goal of exceeding weekly and monthly targets on a variety of key performance indicators
  • Monitor profitability and organizational effectiveness, ensuring Directors and Area Market Managers are effectively managing resources to effectively manage inventory, rates and supplier relationships
  • Lead and coach the team to deliver on complex, high-impact or volatile negotiations involving high business risk
  • Develop and gain acceptance of ideas and strategies from senior business executives with a strong eye on maximizing margin opportunity, obtaining lodging inventory and driving long term relationships with our supply partners
  • Construct and drive relevant, consistent and constantly optimized data-sets to deliver actionable information to the team, lodging partners and internal stakeholders

Deliver Account Management Excellence:

  • Provide thought leadership to industry partners and increase Expedia’s visibility by participating in high-profile internal and external events.
  • Partner with Expedia’s business stakeholders to understand proposed programs and business requirements that will require participation from the Market Management organization, and implement identified programs within the region, considering implications to and troubleshooting for impact to lodging partner relationships.
  • Work with the US and Global Leadership teams across Expedia Group to evolve client acquisition and account management capabilities and processes through the creation of global “playbooks” across Account Management, including analytical and commercial capabilities to more effectively align to commercial opportunities across Expedia Group
